The Rink – DeBartolo Commons

Ice skating at DeBartolo Commons is here for the holiday season! The Rink will be open November 24 through January 15, 2024. The cost to skate at The Rink is $12 for adults and $10 for kids; guests can bring their own skates or rent for $4.

The Rink Hours of Operation:
Monday through Thursday from 4pm-8pm
Fridays from 3pm-9pm (special hours of 11am-9pm on Nov. 24)
Saturdays from 12pm-9pm (special hours of 12pm-4pm on Dec. 30)
Sundays from 12pm-6pm

Special hours:
December 18 through December 21 from 12pm-8pm
Christmas Eve from 12pm-4pm
December 26 through December 28 from 12pm-8pm
December 22 and 29 from 12pm-9pm
New Year’s Eve 12pm-4pm
January 2 from 12pm-8pm
*The Rink will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, December 14, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day*

** A waiver must be completed for each skating participant. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver on their behalf. The waiver can be found HERE. **

Joy of Christmas Light Display

The Joy of Christmas drive-through holiday light display features more than one million lights in 90+ holiday scenes. Hours for the 2023 season will be Friday-Sunday, November 17-19, Thursday-Sunday, November 23-26, and November 30-December 24, 6-9pm. Admission is $20/vehicle. Seasonal passes are available. Sunday Nights $10 entry for all First Responders + Seniors (adults 65 yrs.+).

In addition to the light displays, guests can stop at the Gingerbread House and Santa’s Ice Castle to enjoy Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, and food for purchase from local non-profit organizations; pictures with Santa in the Ice Castle for purchase (November 23-December 23); story time with Mrs. Claus in the Gingerbread House; reindeer food children’s activity; indoor train display; Gingerbread House display; special events and more!

Special events for 2023:

Opening Weekend Only: Ice Queen and the Princess (Anna/Elsa) in Santa’s Castle (Santa will not be available opening weekend)
Hay Ride + Petting Zoo: Saturday, November 18, 2023 – additional $5/participant for Hayride
First Responder & Senior Nights: $10 admission for first responders, veterans, and adults 65 years of age and older every Sunday night
Santa’s Special Night: By-appointment-only evenings for individuals living with special needs: December 6
Walk-It Night: Monday, December 4 – stroll the light show on foot, $5/person entry.
Twas the Night Before 5k Run: Tuesday, December 5

Join Frog Pond Farm at their annual Holiday Open House on Small Business Saturday – November 25 from 10:00am-6:00pm! They will have the barns open so you can visit the goats and chickens. Get your picture taken with a goat by a professional photographer with a Christmas back-drop. They will have shopping available with several other vendors such as beautiful holiday wreaths and handmade quilted items. Sample their many flavors of award-winning goat milk fudge and smell their delightful goat milk soap to your heart’s desire!

Youngstown CityScape invites you to the third annual Winter Greenery Sale at their greenhouse location, CityScape at Briel’s, 23-26 S. Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown. Last year many items sold out, so they strongly suggest that you pre-order to ensure availability of your selected favorite items. They will do everything to have a beautiful selection on hand, but ongoing supply chain issues mean that they may have limited stock available.

A Merry Little Santa Visit

Friends of Fido “Howlidays” Fundraiser

Friends of Fido is holding its 10th Annual “Howlidays” Vendor Show from 11:00am until 3:00pm on Saturday, November 25 at Tippecanoe Country Club, 5870 Tippecanoe Rd, Canfield. Everyone is invited to shop Small Business Saturday while helping save the lives of needy dogs. There will be 40 local vendors, including old favorites and some new, plus a basket raffle. Delicious complimentary spritzers and cookies will be served. Lunch and a full cash bar will be available.

Friends of Fido uses the funds for the pound dogs’ necessary medical care, veterinary and other expenses to give them a second chance at life.

Memories of Christmas Past 2023

Memories of Christmas Past is an annual holiday spectacular in its 15th year, and takes place in the 1905 Arts & Crafts mansion of Olive and Wilford Arms. The seven period rooms of the Arms Family home in Youngstown will be filled to the brim with vintage and contemporary decorations that include ornaments, lighting, trees, and toys – all arranged in breathtaking vignettes that delight generations young and old. The display features many pieces from Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s collection as well as items on loan from private collectors.

This one-of-a-kind holiday wonderland rivals the best of the professional holiday displays as seen in New York City, Chicago, and Atlanta. Exquisitely arranged, the vintage décor on display is from the 1800s through the 1960s. The exhibit features all new displays each year.

Two gift shops feature vintage as well as new merchandise. Santa’s Village (also known as the Hands-On-History Room) on the museum’s lower level is a Christmas-themed experience for visitors of all ages, where families will enjoy holiday-themed activities.

This year’s exhibit will take place November 18 – December 31, 2023. Museum hours are Tuesday-Sunday, noon-4:00pm. On Twilight Thursdays, the exhibit is open until 7:00pm. The Museum is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (60+) and college students (with ID), and $8 for children (3-18). Admission is free for toddlers (under 3), MVHS members, active military and veterans (with ID).
